--The Abandoned House--

Several years back, when I was in high school, I went with my youth group up to Bluewater Covenant Bible Camp in northern Minnesota. During free time one day, we decided to go canoeing out on Lake Bluewater. We went way out into the lake, probably further than we should have gone. Someone in our canoe spotted something on the shore that fascinated all of us: an old, abandoned mansion. We figured that no one would be around, and we were tired of sitting in the canoe, so we decided to take a closer look.

We pulled the canoe onto the shore and walked up to the mansion, found that the door lock had been rusted open, so we went on inside. We found an amazing place that I'm sure at one time had been very elegant. There was one specific thing about the house that has fascinated me: the music. Whoever used to live there must have been a musician, because when I listened carefully, I could actually hear faint music drifting throughout the house on the air currents. Sometimes the house was silent; other times I could hear several songs layered over each other.

This has been a wonderful mystery to me ever since I visited the place. I have decided to re-create as much of the music as I can from memory. These recordings don't do justice to what it was like to be there, but I hope I can pass some of the mystery on to you.
